Bill Cella - Chairman & CEO, The Cella Group

Former Chairman and CEO of MAGNA Global Worldwide, Vice Chairman of Draftfcb and one of the media industry’s most respected executives, Bill brings years of experience in media negotiation, programming creation, and branded content to The Cella Group.

The Cella Group is a media sales representation company offering sales in both traditional and digital consultations in media, as well as sports and entertainment representation.

Before forming The Cella Group in 2008, Bill founded MAGNA Global, a unique media negotiation, research, and programming unit of the Interpublic Group of Companies. Bill worked with Interpublic's media specialists, including Initiative, Universal McCann, and other Interpublic media agencies around the world. MAGNA represented approximately 25 billion dollars of aggregated media spending on behalf of clients from these agencies on a worldwide basis. The company was also an industry leader in research and analytics and has produced Emmy Award winning programming under Bill’s leadership.

Before his seven year tenure leading MAGNA Global, Bill held the position of Executive Vice President, Director of Broadcast and Programming for Universal McCann North America, where he was responsible for over $2 billion dollars of national broadcast time on network, cable, and syndicated television.

Bill joined McCann-Erickson in 1994 as Director of National Broadcast and Programming for the company’s Coca-Cola client. In 1997 he was named Executive Vice President, Director of National Broadcast and Programming for all of North America.

Before joining McCann, Bill worked for ABC for 15 years. He began his ABC career as an account executive for WXYZ-TV in Detroit. In 1985 he joined the ABC Television Network and rose to the position of Vice President of Sports Sales before leaving the company.

Bill is an honorary member of the Executive Board of the Advertising Council. He was Chairman of Board of the National Kidney Foundation and a former board member of NYC & Company. He was Chairman of the Advisory Board for The Committee for Hispanic Children and Families for six years and was on the executive committee of the Association of National Advertisers’ Family Friendly Programming Forum. He has served as Luncheon Chair for the Boy Scouts of America, and was a frequent speaker on financial business panels.

Bill has the distinction of being recognized as a “Media Maven” by Advertising Age, in both 1999 and 2001, and was listed 7th in the Electronic Media (now TelevisionWeek) ranking of The Most Powerful People in Television. In 2007 Bill was inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame and in 2008 Bill became a board member of both Crown Media Holdings, Inc and TiVo (both public companies). He has appeared numerous times on CNBC and Bloomberg as an industry expert on trends in the media business, has guest lectured at The University of Notre Dame’s Graduate School of Sports Management and the Hagen School of Business at Iona College.

Bill worked from 2013 to 2018 with the Cheyenne Group, “an executive recruitment company focusing on sports and entertainment”.
